Living in Spain
Spain has been considered, for a long time, one of the countries with the highest qualities of life in the world. Its climate, Mediterranean diet, environment and well established democracy has resulted in a unique place to live and the envy of its European neighbours. Without a doubt, it has been the economic miracle of the EU and has enjoyed a steady growth for the past 20 years.
Apart from its location and its social structure, it is also its people that have made Spain the forefront of economic and financial development as Spain takes great pride in everything they do and are statistically one of the countries that can boast punctual delivery of goods time and time again. Long has it been that the image of Spain has been related to the “mañana” and long afternoon “siestas” since it is very difficult to find this kind of behaviour anywhere in the country.
Spain also has the advantage that it is one of the few countries that has its coastline on two seas, the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. This situation gives Spain a patchwork of different and original landscapes, something that is not found in many places anywhere in the world. From home grown fresh vegetables to tropical fruit like avocados and kiwis can be found in any weekly open air market in every town and city of Spain, offering a myriad of healthy foods for daily consumption.
Another particularity of the Spanish is their incomparable hospitality. Anywhere in Spain you will always find someone willing to help out no matter what language you speak. Even its history is testimony to this as the Spanish was continuously invaded and those invaders decided to settle in this “promised land”, preferring the Iberian Peninsula to their countries of origin. This mix of cultures and traditions has brought about a cosmopolitan society, open to change and tolerant with those with different customs.
But without a doubt it is Spain’s daily life that makes it different from other countries. It’s vitality, passion for life…all these factors make Spain…possibly the best place in the world to live.
